Where are we off to next?

“To travel is to live.” ― Hans Christian Andersen

We are currently counting down to our next exciting adventure… East Africa! Yes, we are going on the ultimate bucket list trip of a lifetime – The quintessential African Safari!  It’s all been leading to this one…

Two years of planning and it’s now only 1 week until takeoff. We will fly via Singapore and Dubai to Uganda. From there, we have hired a Toyota Landcruiser with a local driver/guide for an 11 day tour of the highlights of Uganda. Places we will visit include: Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, Murchison Falls (on the Nile), Kibale Forest (Chimp tracking), Queen Elizabeth National Park (Tree Climbing Lions & Hippos) and the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest (Mountain Gorillas!!!).

We will then drive across the border into Rwanda and onto the capital city, Kigali for a couple of nights. After checking out the sights in Kigali, we will fly to Arusha, at the base of Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania where we will once again have our own Landcruiser with a driver/guide for 10 days.

Tanzania is all about the famous National Parks: Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater and the famous Serengetti. We hope to see the Big 5: Lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and Cape buffalo. Hopefully we will also be able to catch the Great Wildebeast migration – fingers crossed.

Our safari will end with a week of R&R on the beautiful island of Zanzibar which is just off the coast of Tanzania (Freddie Mercury’s birthplace).

We will then stay in Dubai overnight before winging our way home….

Ross Family Travels

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love everything about travel. Travelling the world is my passion, my obsession, my hobby. I love researching every destination.  I love planning every little detail and I love the countdown to our next trip as much as I love the time we are away.

For as long as I can remember I’ve wanted to visit new places. It doesn’t matter if it’s in New Zealand or overseas, I’ve always had a desire to visit the amazing locations I’d read about, seen on tv or on the big screen. It was after watching Leonardo Di Caprio’s movie, The Beach that we just had to go to Phi Phi Island in Thailand to see this beautiful location for ourselves. I’m also drawn to the magnificent World Heritage Sites around the world and would love to visit as many of them as possible. I am also very fortunate to have an amazing husband who shares the thrill of travel with me.

Our motto is: Work hard, save hard and prioritise to make it happen.

At the end of the day tho’, it doesn’t matter where we have been or how amazing a trip we have had, there is absolutely no place in the world that we would rather come back to. Travel has made us realise that we live in pure paradise here at Mt Maunganui in little ole New Zealand. It really is Godzone!

Home is where the heart is…
